Refacing a Dated Brick Fireplace with Stone

Covering an old brick fireplace with stone is one of the biggest changes you can make to a room. Here is what is involved.

Refacing a Dated Brick Fireplace with Stone — Puttrich & Sons Masonry

You usually do not have to tear it out

If the existing fireplace is sound, we can often face right over the old brick with stone or thin veneer instead of demolishing it. That saves mess and money and still completely changes the look of the room.

Pick the stone for the room

A floor-to-ceiling stack reads very differently from a low surround with a wood mantel. We will talk through stone type, color, and how far up the wall to go so it fits the room instead of fighting it.

The hearth ties it together

A new or refaced hearth finishes the project and makes the whole fireplace look intentional. We match the hearth to the facing so it all reads as one piece, not a patchwork.
