What to look for in these masonry projects

Good masonry shows up in the details before you notice the whole wall. On veneer work, look for clean cuts around windows, even bed joints, and corners that line up instead of wandering as the wall climbs. On stonework, notice how the larger pieces are set so the wall feels balanced, with joints that shed water and do not leave weak, awkward slivers.

Block buildings and CMU walls are less decorative, but the craft still matters. Straight courses, plumb corners, proper reinforcement, and tidy grout work are what keep a pump-station building, site wall, or utility structure moving through inspection and ready for the next trade. The same kind of planning applies to retaining walls, mailbox columns, and exterior features: a wall is only as good as the footing, drainage, and layout behind it.

These photos are a sample of the exterior brick, stone, block, and concrete work Puttrich & Sons Masonry handles around Waco, Central Texas, and the Dallas corridor. If you are comparing a repair, a new veneer project, a block building, or a stone feature, send photos of your existing masonry and the surrounding grade so we can talk through the right scope before an estimate visit.
